July had a busy start with TWO Truck Stops, and we had a great time out at both of our events!
July 6, 2014 – BaconFest
We were lucky enough that the start of this July heat wave coincided with our BaconFest Truck Stop, which took place on 84 Avenue outside the ATB Financial Arts Barns. We had 6 trucks out to join us, including two new What the Truck?! additions, So-Cal Smoothies and Keilan’s Creamery. Since this was a smaller event, the lineups were much shorter than usual, and we saw and spoke to many attendees who were able to try multiple items from each of the trucks.
While we weren’t directly on the park, we did find that many people did take to the grass (and the shade) to enjoy their bacon-flavoured delights!
HUGE thanks goes to our sponsors, the Old Strathcona Business Association, Capital City Cleanup, and BaconFest YEG (who appear to have had a fantastic turnout to their event). Congratulations, guys!

July 10, 2014 – Boyle Street Plaza
Despite the blistering winds, we’d like to thank everyone for coming out to our Truck Stop at Boyle Street Plaza! While Street Eats had some last minute mechanical problems, we were able to pull off the event with the 3 remaining trucks: Afterbite Mobile, Attila the HUNgry, and Funky Mango. The trucks were parked along 103A Ave adjacent to the Boyle Street Plaza building.
Many attendees were able to try multiple items from the trucks. We would like to give a big thank you to the Boyle Street Plaza for providing picnic tables and garbage bins, and for helping us with setup.
One popular item that was served was Funky Mango’s Thai Shrimp Burger, seen below.
We’d also like to thank 102.3 Now Radio for coming out and providing music and free popsicles for everyone!
