What the Truck?! Team Member Recruitment

Love food trucks AND volunteering? Well, have we got a role for you! As we embark on another season of food-trucking, we are also on the hunt for someone to join the team as a volunteer coordinator.

Some of the key things we need a volunteer coordinator to lead are:
– Volunteer recruitment and marketing
– Volunteer management
– Volunteer supervision on the day of events

In addition to volunteer coordination, this role is an active member of the What the Truck?! committee and would be providing input and support in all other aspects of the work we do.

If you think you’d be the perfect addition to the What the Truck?! team, e-mail us at team@whatthetruck.ca and tell us about you and what makes you awesome. If you’ve got ideas about how you could help make the 2018 What the Truck?! season the best one we’ve ever had, tell us that too! For good measure, you should also tell us what your favourite food truck item is. We will start reviewing applications as soon as they come in, but ideally would like to receive them by April 27, 2018.

Volunteer Appreciation Meal: May 28 & 29, 2016

OUR VOLUNTEERS NEVER GO HOME HUNGRY

What the Truck?! volunteers lend a hand to keep our sites clean and tidy.  We strive to leave every location we utilize as clean, (OR cleaner), than we found it.

Our Northlands event on May 28 & 29, 2016 had over 12K people tell us they were interested in coming for dinner via Facebook.  Yikes! That’s a LOT of dirty dishes.  Imagine each person eating just one serving of food and drinking just one beverage, and you can get an idea of how much garbage is produced.  And let’s be real; who only eats ONE serving when they attend a What the Truck?! event! 😉

Our volunteers work extremely hard picking up the trash, and packing up the disposables.  It is certainly not glamorous, but so necessary to make the event safe & pleasant for all in attendance.

Why would anyone pick up garbage for 4 hours?

All of our volunteers are #yegfoodtruck supporters, and each volunteer has their own favorite truck.  Our volunteers are thanked by the food trucks each shift that they help out.  Thanked with the best food on earth — #yegfoodtruck food!!

The trucks DONATE meals for our volunteers; as their appreciation for the hard work they do on their behalf.

Volunteers: May 28 & 29, 2016 @ Northlands

IMG_9954Saturday May 28 & Sunday May 29, 2016 was the first What the Truck?! food truck Extravaganza event of 2016.

When we started planning this event, (our largest so far), we knew that 40 – 50 food trucks each day for 2 days, would require an outstanding volunteer crew.
