Meet the Trucks: Smokehouse BBQ

Next up in our Meet the Trucks series: Smokehouse BBQ!

Truck Stop: Ginger Beef Throwdown1.Why are you rockin’ a food truck?

Our food truck is an extension of our restaurant and provides us an opportunity to take our food the street and explore other food / dishes that are a bit of a departure from our normal restaurant menu items. The truck also provides great exposure for the restaurant.

2. What kind of food to you serve? What sets it apart?

Our food is Southern BBQ based, slow smoked meats rubbed and finished with our BBQ sauces. We make everything in house, and we have dishes that are unique to Smokehouse BBQ such as our Bacon Bomb and our Pig Balls.

3. What do you love most about Edmonton’s food truck scene?

It is constantly growing, changing and evolving, with lots of new trucks coming and opportunities presenting themselves. And of course, the great people and personalities connected to it!

4. What can we expect from your truck in 2014?

We have new menu items coming and are very excited about them. Our expanded menu will have: catfish as a Po`Boy sandwich with red beans and rice; Barbacoa; a TexMex smoked Brisket in Adobo sauce with Salsa Fresco and fresh Guacamole in a soft taco; fresh made Andouille and Chorizo sausages served with smoked caramelized onions and sautéed sweet peppers, coleslaw and BBQ sauce in a toasted torpedo bun.

2014 will see the Smokehouse truck doing more street work then the last 2 years. We have a set location in the downtown core on 102 Street and MacDonald drive next to the veterans park. We plan to start up by mid-April on a regular basis when not booked for private, corporate or festival events, so we have a very busy season planned!

5. What is your favourite food truck item served by another truck?

Too many good things to pick just one!
