What the Truck?! Update

What The Truck?! at Capital Boulevard (May 2018)
What The Truck?! at Capital Boulevard (May 2018)

It’s almost food truck season and we are very excited that the trucks will be out and about soon! As such, we also wanted to provide some updates on the What the Truck?! front.

Over the off-season, we have been reflecting on our mission and goals, and while we remain ardent supporters of food trucks, we are changing the way we can support the food truck community.

As food truck culture in the city has evolved, What the Truck?! has also evolved and we moved away from many smaller truck stop events to a handful of larger scale events throughout the season. However, we have now reached the time where we will be stepping back from organizing food truck events under the What the Truck?! banner. We’re now going to focus on promoting food trucks and food truck culture through our website and social media.

Our goal has always been to promote food trucks and food truck culture to Edmontonians and our events have been a big part of that over the years. Watching the number of food trucks grow over the past several years and seeing trucks being incorporated at various events has brought us a lot of joy! Food trucks are a part of the fabric that makes up the Edmonton food scene with a presence on the streets, markets and events!

We are proud of what we have accomplished and the role we have had in promoting and supporting food trucks in Edmonton. We remain passionate about food trucks and will continue to provide a linkage for event organizers to reach out to our membership via the “Book the Trucks” form. We are also planning to re-develop our website to provide you with more information about the trucks as well as to promote and share other events involving food trucks.

Thank you to everyone who has ever attended a What the Truck?! event! We couldn’t done it without you and we look forward to running into you in a food truck line this season!

We’re in denial just as much as anybody else, but summer is wrapping up fast and we’re heading into our last event of 2018! Spend a lazy Sunday afternoon with us and our trucks as we take over RE/MAX Field (formerly known as Edmonton Ballpark). We’ve lined up 14 trucks, including 4 new food trucks*, in the outfields for you. Bring your picnic gear, soak up some rays, and let’s celebrate what’s left of summer with a home run!

Here’s our season wrap-up truck list:

Note: La Chula and Codfadders Seafood were previously listed in our line-up and will be unable to attend our wrap-up event.

Joining us to wrap up the season, Edmonton Food Bank will be on site to accept your non-perishable food items and monetary donations.

Food trucks and summer go hand in hand and in our opinion, there is nothing better than spending a Friday night at a What the Truck?! event (of course we may be a bit biased). We have 15 trucks interspersed throughout the zoo for you to choose from, including 4 food trucks* joining us for their first What the Truck?!

August 22, 2015 Trucks in the Outfield Menus

Get ready for an afternoon of picnicking in the outfield! Here are the menus for the trucks that will be joining us next week. Don’t forget that we’ll have our ticketing system in place (no pre-purchase of tickets needed), and this is your last chance to enter our Golden Ticket contest before we announce the winners (on August 28th)!

Bring a blanket to spend an afternoon picnicking in the outfield. Don’t forget your baseballs and gloves*, because when else will you get the chance to play a game of catch on the infield at Telus Field? As usuall, we’ll have a DJ there to add awesome tunes to your Saturday afternoon, and we’ll have a glitter tattoo tent as well! Telus Field is right on the Number 9 bus route (conveniently on your way downtown from the Fringe Festival). And if you’re worried about parking, don’t be! Telus Field has graciously provided their 750 stall lots for FREE public parking during our event. We know there’s lots going on in the city during the summer, but think you’d have a great time making a stop to visit the trucks in the outfield at our event on August 22nd!

*No bats or hitting of baseballs is permitted
